Overview

Nicaragua

As Nicaragua is a destination that offers such a huge variety of possibilities, it is a pity that so many backpackers skip it when doing the Central Americas trip in the common path of Mexico, Guatamala and Costa Rica.

Whether you decide to enjoy the colonial cities of Granada and Leon, the quiet and interesting island of Ometepe in the biggest lake in Central America: Lago Nicaragua, the unbelievable beaches of Madera and Majagual next to San Juan del Sur or maybe Corn Islands in the Caribbean if you have more time – It is a win win situation and you will enjoy any choice discovering the more authentic part of Central America.

The people of Nicaragua (called Nicos/Nicas) are friendly and this country seems to be one of the safest tough one of the poorest in Central America. Combining it with the Nature in it's full power and beauty (national parks and reserves, lakes, volcanoes, beaches and many more), Nicaragua just can't go wrong and you will enjoy your stay.
